Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed: 14 May 2026
Diplomatic Protocol Event Management (“DPEM”) is committed to ensuring our platform and events are accessible to all individuals, regardless of ability or technology. We believe that participation in diplomatic, academic, and cultural exchange should not be limited by accessibility barriers.
1. Web Accessibility Standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Where we have not yet achieved full conformance, we are actively working to address identified gaps.
2. Technical Approach
Our platform is built with accessibility as a core design principle:
- Semantic HTML5 landmark elements (
main,nav,header,footer) - Descriptive
alttext on all informational images - Keyboard navigability throughout the registration and checkout flow
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text)
- Focus indicators on all interactive elements
- Form labels associated programmatically with their controls
- Error messages that identify the field in error and describe the corrective action
- No content that flashes more than three times per second
- ARIA attributes used where native semantics are insufficient
3. Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas currently under improvement:
- PDF programme documents — some older event PDFs may not be fully tagged for screen reader compatibility. We are working to provide accessible HTML versions.
- Embedded maps — venue location maps are currently decorative placeholders. A text alternative address is provided on all event pages.
- Complex data tables — agenda tables on some pages may require improved row and column header associations for screen readers.
4. Event Venue Accessibility
DPEM is committed to ensuring physical accessibility at all events we organise. Our event selection process includes accessibility criteria for venues. Specific venue accessibility information — including step-free access, hearing loop availability, and accessible restrooms — is published on each event page where available.
If you have specific access requirements for an upcoming event, please contact us at least 14 days before the event date so we can make appropriate arrangements.
5. Requesting Accessible Formats
If you require any content from this site in an alternative format — such as large print, easy read, audio, or Braille — please contact us and we will endeavour to provide it within 10 business days.
6. Feedback and Contact
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our platform. If you encounter a barrier or have a suggestion for improvement, please contact us:
- Email: accessibility@dpem.app
- Post: DPEM Accessibility, 652 Whiting Way, Coquitlam, BC V3J 0K3, Canada
We aim to acknowledge accessibility enquiries within 5 business days and resolve identified issues as quickly as practicable, with a target of 30 days for most barriers.
7. Enforcement
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility complaint, you may contact the relevant national equality body or digital accessibility authority in your country of residence.
8. Formal Compliance Status
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard, as described in Section 3 above. We are committed to achieving full conformance.
